India’s MSMEs research technology in AI answers now. So that is where we put HP Connect.

HP Connect is HP’s technology experience platform for India’s micro, small and medium enterprises — consultative solutions, AI PCs, conferencing, financing options, and experience centres in Mohali, Raipur, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Chennai and New Delhi. The proposition was strong; the discovery layer was not. The platform now ranks for 50+ keywords and appears in AI-generated answers when MSME buyers research business technology.

The problem: a specialist platform hidden behind a global brand

HP Connect faces a discovery problem most sub-brands share. Search for anything HP-related and you reach HP’s global properties. Meanwhile the actual buyer — an MSME owner or IT decision-maker asking "which laptop for a 20-person office", "what is an AI PC and do we need one", "conferencing setup for a small meeting room" — was never being answered by HP Connect at all.

Three specific gaps. The consultative proposition (1:1 expert sessions, demos, configurator, financing) is the platform’s real differentiator, yet none of it was reachable through search intent. Six physical experience centres existed with almost no local visibility for the cities they serve. And the fastest-growing research channel for exactly this audience — asking an AI assistant to compare and recommend business technology — returned answers that never mentioned HP Connect.

What we did

Intent architecture across product, industry and city

  • Mapped MSME buying language rather than product-catalogue language: business-size framing, use-case framing, budget framing
  • Built pages for the six industries served — manufacturing, banking and finance, retail and e-commerce, healthcare and pharma, IT, logistics and transport — each speaking that sector’s actual technology decisions
  • Product-intent content around AI PCs and conferencing built for evaluation questions, not spec dumps

Experience centres as local search assets

  • Genuine location pages for Mohali, Raipur, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Chennai and New Delhi — what happens at a visit, what can be demonstrated, how to book
  • Local profile and citation work so "experience centre near me" style searches resolve to the right city
  • Booking and consultation paths made obvious on every entry point, because the consultation is the conversion

The AI and LLM layer

  • AI crawler access verified and opened, with llms.txt describing the platform, its services and its centre locations
  • Citation-ready blocks answering the questions MSME buyers actually ask assistants: what an AI PC is, when it is worth it, how to choose devices for a small team, what to standardise across an office
  • Organization, Service, LocalBusiness and FAQPage schema so AI systems can resolve HP Connect as a distinct entity rather than folding it into HP global
  • A fixed panel of buyer questions re-run against Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT to track and document actual appearances

The takeaway

Sub-brands rarely lose search because the offering is weak. They lose because the parent brand absorbs every branded query while nobody builds for the unbranded questions the actual buyer asks. HP Connect’s answer was to own the questions instead of the brand terms — industry by industry, city by city, and increasingly inside the AI answers where MSME technology research now begins.
