SEO for Law Firms in India & USA

SEO for Law Firms · India & USA

The clients you deserve are searching. Make sure they find you.

Legal SEO makes your firm visible at the exact moment someone needs a lawyer — in the map pack, in organic results, and now in the AI answers people consult before making a call. We have done this twice with named, verified results: a Delhi criminal law firm that grew local visibility 520%, and a Miami immigration firm that grew qualified leads 5×. Few agencies can show you one real legal result. We can show you two, on two continents.

Legal search is not one behaviour. It is three, and they happen at different hours, in different emotional states, and they are won in completely different ways. Firms that market to all three win far more than firms optimising a homepage for “best lawyer in [city]”.

The momentWhat they typeWhat wins it
Crisis — an arrest, a notice, a deadline. Often 10pm, often a family member searching, decided within hours."criminal lawyer near me", "anticipatory bail lawyer Delhi", "income tax notice reply"Map pack position, reviews, a phone number that is one tap away
Research — weeks before hiring. They want to understand the process before they trust anyone with it."how does mutual consent divorce work", "what happens after an FIR", "RERA complaint process"Genuinely useful practice-area content, and increasingly the AI answer that quotes it
Selection — they have a shortlist and are checking whether to trust you."[your firm name] reviews", "property lawyer Saket", "POSH consultant Gurugram"Credentials, reviews, a real profile, and consistency across every directory

Most firms are invisible in the first two and only partly present in the third. That is the gap we close, and it is why our work starts with which moment your practice actually needs.

Why good firms lose these searches — and what we change

The firms that come to us are almost never bad at law. They are usually excellent and completely absent from the places clients look. The causes repeat with striking consistency.

What is holding your firm backWhat we do about it
Eleven practice areas collapsed into one services pageA properly written page per practice area, each targeting how clients describe that problem
No Google Business Profile presence in local resultsFull profile rebuild with correct legal categories, service areas and photos
Fewer than 20 reviews, or none in monthsAn ethical review routine tied to matter completion, with responses written for you
Details inconsistent across LawRato, Justdial, bar directoriesCitation audit and cleanup across the legal directories that actually rank
Nothing that answers the questions clients ask at 10pmProcess and rights content, written to be found and to be quoted
Absent from AI answers about your practice areaFAQ schema, Attorney and LegalService markup, and citation-ready answer blocks
Fear of breaching advertising rules, so nothing gets publishedAn education-first framework that stays inside BCI and state bar norms

Our Delhi client had six of those seven. Four months later the firm was top three in the map pack for eight keywords, profile views had gone from 140 to 890 a month, and it appeared in six AI Overview answers — the case study is published with the before-and-after table.

Quick self-check: is your firm findable when it matters?

  • You rank for your firm name and almost nothing else
  • You are not in the map pack for your main practice area in your city
  • Your Google Business Profile has fewer than 20 reviews, or none in the last quarter
  • You have one page covering every practice area you offer
  • You have never checked what ChatGPT says when someone asks for a lawyer in your city
  • Referrals are your only reliable source of new matters

Three or more and clients who need exactly your expertise are calling someone else this week. The free audit shows which of these apply to your firm, and what each one is costing you.

What we do

Built for a practice, not a brochure.

Practice-area pages

Dedicated, deeply written pages for each practice area — criminal, family, property, immigration, corporate — each answering the questions clients bring, structured for both Google and AI citation.

Local domination

Google Business Profile rebuilt with correct legal categories, citations across LawRato, Vakilsearch, Avvo and Justia by market, and an ethical review system tied to matter completion.

AI answer presence

FAQPage schema across practice areas, 130–170 word citation blocks, and LegalService and Attorney markup — the exact stack behind six AI Overview appearances in Delhi and an 18% ChatGPT citation rate in Miami.

Credential signalling

Attorney profiles with Person schema, bar admissions, and case results where permitted — the E-E-A-T evidence Google demands before ranking legal content.

Multilingual reach

Hindi content in India, Spanish in the US. Our Miami client’s eleven Spanish-language AI citations came from pages competitors never thought to write.

Intake-ready conversion

Click-to-call, WhatsApp and consultation forms placed where late-night urgency converts — because legal clients do not fill in contact forms during business hours.

Marketing a practice without breaching advertising rules

This is the objection we hear first, and it is a fair one. Indian advocates operate under Bar Council of India restrictions on advertising and solicitation. US attorneys face state bar advertising rules that vary by jurisdiction. Most firms respond by publishing nothing at all, which is why legal search is so winnable for the firms that do it properly.

What we publish

  • Educational content explaining processes, rights, timelines and what happens next
  • Factual statements of practice areas, qualifications, bar admissions and years in practice
  • Directory and profile listings with accurate, consistent information
  • Answers to the questions clients genuinely ask, written in plain language

What we never publish

  • Solicitation language or anything that reads as touting for work
  • Guarantees or predictions of case outcomes
  • Superlative self-claims — "best", "number one", "top-rated" — unless independently verifiable
  • Client details or case specifics without written consent

Everything is drafted for your review before it publishes, and anything borderline is flagged to you rather than decided by us. Our Delhi engagement produced a 520% visibility increase entirely within these constraints — the results came from thoroughness, not from pushing the rules.

A single “Our Services” page listing eleven practice areas will rank for none of them. Google needs one authoritative page per intent, and a client searching for a property dispute needs to land somewhere that speaks to property disputes, not a menu.

Each practice-area page we build answers the same five questions, because these are what clients ask in the first consultation anyway:

  • What is the process, step by step, and where does it happen?
  • How long does it usually take?
  • What does it cost, or what determines the cost?
  • What should I do first, and what should I avoid doing?
  • What happens if things go badly?

Answered properly, those pages do three jobs at once: they rank for the research-stage searches, they pre-sell your competence before the call, and they are exactly the format AI Overviews lift when someone asks a legal question. One page, three channels.

Proof, twice over

Two firms, two markets, two documented wins.

Kapil Chandna Law Firm, Delhi — from invisible outside his own name to map pack top three for eight keywords, 890 monthly profile views, and six AI Overview appearances, in four months.

Arias & Pereira, Miami — priced out of the PPC war, this immigration firm took the AI channel instead: 32% Perplexity citation rate, 18% ChatGPT citation rate, eleven Spanish-language citations, and five times the qualified leads in six months with ad spend unchanged.

Advocate Kanika Rao, Gurugram — eleven practice areas, 40+ keywords ranking and Gurugram map pack presence, including the corporate compliance searches larger firms overlook.

Law firm SEO, city by city

Every city is its own legal market — different courts, different competition, different search language. Each programme below is built on the playbook behind our named results, tuned to that bench. One firm per practice area per city, in writing.

Most firms fit our Growth plan at ₹45,000 / $899 per month, or Local Growth at ₹28,000 / $549 if the priority is the map pack in one city. Multi-partner firms with several practice areas to build usually need Scale at ₹85,000 / $1,699. Full tiers are on the pricing page, published, because you should not have to sit through a sales call to learn a price.

Set that against legal PPC, where a single click on competitive terms in the US routinely costs $50 to $100 and in Indian metros can run into thousands of rupees. One matter won from organic search usually covers a quarter of the retainer, and the asset keeps working after you stop paying.

Firms we can help — and firms we cannot

We take one firm per practice area per city, so we would rather be straight about fit before either of us commits.

Strong fit

  • A practice with genuine expertise in defined areas, not a general list
  • Matters worth enough that a handful of new clients pays for the year
  • Someone at the firm who can review content for legal accuracy
  • Willingness to ask satisfied clients for reviews
  • A three to six month horizon — legal search is competitive and worth the wait

Poor fit

  • You want guaranteed rankings or promised case volumes — nobody can honestly sell that
  • You are at capacity and cannot take more matters
  • Nobody can spare an hour a month to review drafts for accuracy
  • You want us to publish outcome claims or superlatives — we will not risk your standing for a keyword
  • Your city and practice area are already taken by an existing client

Questions

From firms considering this.

How long does law firm SEO take to produce clients?

Local visibility can move in 6–12 weeks — our Delhi client saw map pack movement by month two. Competitive organic keywords take 4–8 months. AI citations landed by month three in Miami. We sequence the fast channels first so the campaign starts funding its own patience.

Is SEO compliant with Bar Council and state bar rules?

Our approach is education-first: authoritative answers to legal questions, credentials presented factually, no solicitation language and no outcome promises. That framework sits comfortably within Indian BCI restrictions and US state bar rules, and anything borderline is flagged to you before it publishes.

We are a small firm competing with legal directories. Can we actually win?

Not by outspending Justia or LawRato — by outflanking them. Directories win generic head terms; firms win local and specific. "Anticipatory bail lawyer Dwarka" beats "lawyer India". Add AI answers, where directories are weakly cited and named specialists thrive, and small firms have more room than they think. That is the Arias & Pereira story exactly.

Do you work with competing firms in the same city?

No — one firm per practice area per city, in writing. It is the only honest way to sell this service. If your area is taken we will tell you immediately rather than dilute a paying client’s position.

What do you need from us each month?

Roughly an hour: reviewing drafted content for legal accuracy, approving the review-request routine, and telling us which matters you want more of. We handle everything else.

Can you help if we already have an agency?

Yes, and the free audit is a reasonable second opinion either way. We will tell you plainly if what they are doing is working — sometimes it is, and the honest answer is to stay put.

Does this work for chambers and individual advocates, not just firms?

Yes. Individual advocates often rank faster, because a named practitioner with real credentials builds E-E-A-T more quickly than a faceless firm page. Advocate Kanika Rao is a single-advocate practice.

What about AI — are clients really asking ChatGPT for lawyers?

Increasingly, yes, particularly for the research stage: what a process involves, what their rights are, whether they need a lawyer at all. The assistants then name firms they can verify. Our Miami client went from zero to an 18% citation rate on a fifty-query panel.

Your next client is asking Google — or ChatGPT — right now.
